Priebus: Voters don’t care about Trump’s impersonations

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said that whether presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump pretended to be a publicist when speaking to reporters previously will not be a key issue come November.

“That’s not the kind of thing that is going to move the electorate,” Priebus told CBS on Sunday morning.

Americans won’t look at if a candidate was “calling a reporter 30 years ago” under a false identity as a deciding factor when casting their votes. Rather, they care about who will be a “change agent,” Priebus said. People believe that Trump “will turn things upside down.”

Priebus also echoed comments made earlier Sunday by Trump advisor Paul Manafort, saying voters aren’t concerned about whether Trump releases his tax returns.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if people don’t care,” Priebus said. “One thing is for sure, Donald Trump has rewritten the playbook,” he said. Traditional norms “have not applied to Donald Trump.”
