Johnny DeStefano, who has been with the Trump administration since 2017, notified Trump on Monday of his departure, the Washington Post reports.

DeStefano, who previously worked for former Speaker of the House John Boehner, initially headed the Office of Presidential Personnel to hire administration staffers. He later served as an assistant and counselor to Trump.

In addition to advising Juul and other companies, he’ll also assist the Trump campaign, those familiar with his plans said.

“I love the guy — no one better. Johnny is indefatigable, knowledgeable, worthy of the highest praise, and personnel is policy,” National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said in a statement, per the Post. “He served the President extremely well.”

According to West Wing officials, DeStefano is exiting the Trump administration on amicable terms with Trump.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.
