‘Nothing’s gonna change’: Wife of Hunter Biden welcomes Burisma investigation

The wife of Hunter Biden welcomes an investigation into her husband’s business dealings in Ukraine, but thinks it would probably be a waste of taxpayer dollars.

“Sure. Why not? I mean, nothing’s gonna change,” Melissa Cohen Biden said in an interview with ABC News discussing her months-old marriage.

“I mean, I would probably — I think it would probably be a waste of taxpayer’s money,” she added. “But if it would bring peace of mind to whoever needs peace of mind brought to this, I know we have peace of mind, we’re okay, we’ve — we live in truth, so sure.”

Hunter Biden, 49, earned $50,000 per month to serve on the board of Burisma Holdings, a natural gas firm owned by a Ukrainian oligarch, from 2014 to 2019.

His role at Burisma has become a subject of an impeachment inquiry and fodder for President Trump and his allies to allege corruption by his father Joe Biden, a former vice president and leading 2020 candidate, in dealing with Ukraine. The younger Biden told ABC News that it was “poor judgment” to join the board. But, he stressed, “I did nothing wrong at all.”

This week a Republican lawmaker, Rep. Bradley Byrne of Alabama, announced a resolution calling for an investigation into Hunter Biden’s “shady” business dealings in both Ukraine and China.

Hunter Biden met Melissa, a fellow divorcee, in Los Angeles in May. They got married after only six days and now Hunter refers to his wife as his “redemption” and “protector.” They even have matching “shalom” tattoos.

Melissa said she believes “the truth will prevail” in regards to the Burisma controversy.
