More than 2.1 million people have signed up for Obamacare during the current open enrollment period, even as the incoming Trump administration and Republicans in Congress are planning to repeal the law early next year.
The Obama administration reported Wednesday that of the 2.1 million enrollees, about 1.6 million renewed their coverage, and there are more than a half a million new customers.

Enrollments for the third and fourth weeks of open enrollment, which started on Nov. 1, are 167,000 plan selections above the same time period last year.
The Obama administration set a goal of 13.8 million people to sign up for Obamacare by the end of open enrollment on Jan. 31. It hopes that more than 11 million people will actually pay their premiums for the Obamacare plans.
Meanwhile, Republicans have said they would quickly repeal the law next year. Trump has said he wants to repeal and replace the law, and the Senate would be able to pass a repeal bill through a process known as reconciliation, which requires just a simple majority vote for passage, and not the 60 votes usually needed to break a filibuster.
