Bayer and Monsanto, two corporations hoping to secure permission for a merger, will add 3,000 jobs to their joint U.S. operations, incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday.
President-elect Trump recently met with the CEOs of both companies in Trump Tower.
The 3,000 new jobs from Monsanto would include high-tech positions, such as engineers and data scientists, Spicer said. The deal could include billions of dollars of investment from Bayer, a German company.
Trump’s incoming press secretary said the new investments had “not been broadcast anywhere previously” when he outlined the deal during a conference call with reporters on Tuesday.
