‘I think I’m doing very well’: Trump gives video statement on coronavirus diagnosis

President Trump gave an optimistic video message following his coronavirus diagnosis.

Before departing the White House on Friday for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Trump filmed a message giving the public an update on his and first lady Melania Trump’s well-being.

“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support. I’m going to Walter Reed hospital. I think I’m doing very well. But we’re going to make sure that things work out,” Trump said. “The first lady is doing very well. So, thank you very much. I appreciate it. I will never forget it. Thank you.”

Trump wore a mask while leaving the White House, giving a thumbs-up to reporters waiting for him at the South Lawn. In a statement, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Trump “remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days. President Trump appreciates the outpouring of support for both he and the First Lady,” the statement continues.

White House physician Sean Conley said Trump “remains fatigued but in good spirits,” adding that he gave the president an experimental polyclonal antibody cocktail as well as zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin, and aspirin.

The president revealed he and the first lady tested positive for the coronavirus in an early morning Friday tweet.

“We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump wrote.

Trump is expected to spend the next several days at Walter Reed medical center.
