Phillip Phillips set to take stage at at ‘A Capitol Fourth’

Nothing can hold Phillip Phillips down. Despite being in recovery for kidney surgery, the “American Idol” winner will be performing as part of the “A Capitol Fourth” celebration this year on the Mall, the AP is reporting. The event, which will also feature Matthew Broderick, country singer Josh Turner, Megan Hilty from “Smash,” John Williams and a variety of Olympic athletes, is a D.C. Fouth of July tradition. Phillips will perform his first single “Home” in his first performance since going under the knife. The show will take place on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol and will be followed by a fireworks show. The show will be broadcast on public television and radio.
