Trump campaign: Nunberg affair allegation an attempt at ‘free publicity’

The Donald Trump campaign claims former aide Sam Nunberg is trying to move an arbitration case against the presumptive GOP nominee into court to gain fame from the suit.

“With regard to Mr. Nunberg, this agreement specifically calls for arbitration, and Mr. Nunberg is simply looking for free publicity using categorically false claims,” Alan Garten, counsel to Trump, said in a statement Wednesday evening.

Earlier Wednesday, it emerged that Trump is suing Sam Nunberg for $10 million for breaching a confidentiality agreement after the campaign aide was terminated last summer.

Nunberg attempted to make public the details of his suit, including Trump’s alleged move to “use the sword of private arbitration proceeding against me to silence media coverage” of a “sordid and apparently illicit affair” allegedly between campaign communications director Hope Hicks and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Garten said like most major businesses and organizations, Trump adheres to a non-disclosure policy, and deals with breaches through arbitration to keep internal matters from getting to the public.
