VMAs: New time is to avoid conflict with Obama speech

The MTV VMAs are Thursday. So is President Obama’s primetime convention speech. The NFL already moved the season kickoff to Wednesday to avoid the conflict, and now, MTV is changing things up to avoid conflict as well. The network moved the awards show up an hour, from 9 p.m. to 8 p.m., so it would be over by 10 p.m. Obama is scheduled to speak during the 10 p.m. hour. Now music fans don’t have to choose between Katy Perry and the President of the United States.
