A top official at the Department of Health and Human Services is publicly opposing the American Health Care Act, which repeals and partially replaces Obamacare.
Andrew Ostrovsky, a medical official at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which is part of HHS, tweeted late Wednesday that he would oppose the bill.
“Despite political messaging from others at [Health and Human Services]” Ostrovsky tweeted he would align with experts at outside groups such as the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatricians to oppose the bill.
Despite political messaging from others at HHS, I align with the experts from @aafp @AmerAcadPeds @AmerMedicalAssn in opposition to #AHCA

Ostrovsky’s tweet is a direct rebuke to statements from his boss, HHS Secretary Tom Price who touted the bill as a better alternative to Obamacare.
The bill seeks to repeal a majority of Obamacare and partially replace it. The bill would sunset the Medicaid expansion in 2020, gut a majority of Obamacare’s taxes and offer tax credits based on a person’s age instead of income under Obamacare.
