Pyongyang dismissed a U.S. Air Force bomber flight over South Korea Tuesday meant to show force after a recent nuclear bomb test in North Korea, saying the U.S. is “bluffing.”
“They are bluffing that B-1Bs are enough for fighting an all-out nuclear war,” the state-controlled Korean Central News Agency said in a statement released Wednesday, according to CNN.
The two bombers were joined by U.S. and South Korean jets in a flyover of the Osan Airbase, near Seoul, on Tuesday in response to North Korea’s nuclear weapons test that took place on Friday.
The communist country claims it possesses a nuclear warhead that can be mounted on a ballistic missile, threatening U.S. bases and regional allies.
However, North Korea claimed that American “imperialists” were really to blame for the escalating tensions.
“The US imperialists keep letting their nuclear strategic bombers fly over South Korea in a bid to seek an opportunity of mounting a preemptive nuclear attack,” said the statement. “They had better stop their rash actions.”
