TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a man was apparently trying to scare people when he threw a suitcase containing wires at an upstate New York military recruiter and ran from the recruiter’s office.
Police in the town of Tonawanda, just north of Buffalo, say the suitcase posed no danger, though it contained wires and other objects that could have been mistaken for explosives.
It was thrown at a recruiter about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday by a man who then ran from the building, leaving his car outside. Police caught the man on foot a short time later and took him to a Buffalo hospital for observation. His name hasn’t been released.
Bomb experts, meanwhile, examined the suitcase and car and found nothing dangerous. Police gave the all clear about 1:30 p.m.
