AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Stephen D. Isaacs, a journalist, author and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism professor emeritus, has died after complications from a fall. He was 76.
His son David Isaacs said his father died in Austin, where he had recently moved to live with his longtime partner.
The son of a prominent news editor and media ethics expert, Isaacs was a prodigious journalist who sold his first articles at age 15.
At age 26, he became city editor of The Washington Post. During 17 years he served as a national correspondent, a political reporter, editor of The Post’s magazines, New York bureau chief and director of The Los Angeles Times/Washington Post News Service.
For two decades he taught media ethics and a core Columbia journalism school writing and reporting course.
