Update, 3:30 p.m.: Metro says the Cleveland Park station has reopened.
The Cleveland Park Metrorail Station is still closed due to flooding from Thursday morning’s thunderstorm.
Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel said crews had pumped out all the water but were still mopping up the platform. He said it was not clear whether further rain — expected in the afternoon — would delay the station’s reopening.
“We’ve sandbagged the grates, so hopefully that’ll help. But we’ll have to see what happens,” Taubenkibel said.
More than 2 inches of rain fell in nearby Chevy Chase, according to WeatherBug. And The National Weather Service forecasts storms for this afternoon and evening.
