The Trump transition team is disavowing a questionnaire seeking the names of employees working at the Energy Department who attended international climate change meetings.
“The questionnaire was not authorized or part of our standard protocol,” a Trump transition official said Wednesday.
“The person who sent it has been properly counseled,” the official told CNN.
The 74-question list has raised the ire of Democrats since it was sent last week, putting pressure on the transition team to explain what they saw as a political “witch hunt.”
The Energy Department said Tuesday it would not comply with the request to give over names after a number of employees raised concerns.
