‘Letting Donald Trump off the hook’: Top Biden aide scolds MSNBC host for Biden-Ukraine questions

Joe Biden’s campaign communications director told MSNBC host Katy Tur that she should not question Biden’s campaign strategy because it would help President Trump.

“I think any moment that the media spends not focusing on that is a moment where Donald Trump is believing that he can get away with anything,” Kate Bedingfield said Monday on MSNBC, saying the media should focus on the Trump aspect of the Ukraine controversy and not ask questions about Biden’s connection to Ukraine.

Tur then asked Bedingfield about whether Trump will use a “I’m rubber and you’re glue strategy” in 2020, to which Bedingfield responded by scolding the host.

“This is exactly my point, Katy. This is exactly my point,” she said, adding, “Any time the question is about strategy and how it might impact the campaign, that’s letting Donald Trump off the hook. That’s what he wants. That’s how he runs this playbook, but I think voters see through it. I hope after 2016, the media sees through it.”

Questions over Ukraine come after an anonymous intelligence community whistleblower filed a complaint about a phone call Trump made to the Ukrainian president. Trump allegedly pressured Ukraine to investigate whether Joe Biden got the country’s top prosecutor fired for investigating his son, Hunter.

Trump said Monday that there would be more information coming out about the phone call, and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani promised dirt would be released on Biden soon.
