PHILADELPHIA — Democratic National Committee vice chair Donna Brazile apologized for the content of the internal DNC emails published online by Wikileaks.
Brazile, who is poised to become the DNC interim chair after the resignation of Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, told the Democratic black caucus that the emails showed behavior not befitting the Democratic Party.
“I sincerely apologize my friends for those of you took offense and were offended, for those of you who feel betrayed and were betrayed by the ridiculous and insensitive and inappropriate emails from the staff of the Democratic Party,” Brazile said. “Those words do not reflect the spirit of this party, this party of Franklin Roosevelt, this party of justice and peace and Lyndon Johnson, this party that made sure that I had a head start … this is not the party that would write emails like that.”
Brazile then said if she is allowed to serve as interim chair of the party, she would leave her roles as a contributor at CNN and ABC and go back to being an organizer.
“We goin’ win this damn thing,” Brazile said. “Don’t come and tell me you want to know what to do, you know what to do!”
