President Trump called Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi and himself “world leaders in social media” on Monday during a joint White House press briefing.
“I am proud to announce to the media, to the American people and to the Indian people that Prime Minister Modi and I are world leaders in social media. We’re believers,” Trump said.

Both Modi and Trump are frequent social media users, with 31 million and 32.8 million followers on Twitter, respectively.
“Giving the citizens of our countries the opportunity to hear directly from their elected officials and for us to hear directly from them,” Trump said. “I guess it’s worked very well in both cases.”
Modi met with Trump at the White House on Monday to discuss closer relations between the world’s two largest democracies.
