A former government contractor pleaded guilty to paying bribes to public officials to ensure government contracts were awarded to his general contracting company.
Moustafa Ahmed Ibrahim of Harrisonburg, Va., was charged with giving $15,000 in bribes to two General Services Administration officials from October 2007-November 2009, according to a Justice Department statement released Monday. In exchange for the bribes, they agreed to give him more than $200,000 in construction and maintenance works at the government buildings they managed in the Washington area.
Two GSA officials he had bribed have pleaded guilty to separate charges for their involvement in giving Ibrahim more than $200,000 in contracts.
The Justice Department did not specify how they discovered the bribes, but said he agreed to forfeit $15,000 as part of his plea deal.
He faces up to 15 years in prison and will be sentenced Sept. 9.
