A Democratic senator wrote a Thursday letter to Senate Intelligence Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, calling for Donald Trump Jr.’s appearance before the committee for a second time over concerns that the president’s eldest son may have lied to Congress about his knowledge of foreign countries offering their assistance to the Trump campaign.

Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., wrote to Grassley because he is “deeply concerned that, based on new information we learned this week, Donald Trump Jr. provided false testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and I would like to renew my request that he be called to return and appear before the full committee to testify in an open hearing.”
Coons said that recent reports about a meeting held by Trump Jr., contradict his congressional testimony, noting that the reports show the attendees offered assistance to Trump’s campaign.
“Mr. Trump Jr. and campaign advisor Stephen Miller met with George Nader, an emissary for the crown princes of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia; Joel Zamel, an Istaeli social media specialist linked to Israeli intelligence and the Emirati royal court; and Erik Prince, a campaign donor and private security contractor with business in the Middle East.”
Sean Coit, Coons’ communications director, told the Washington Examiner that the senator wants Trump Jr. to testify as soon as possible.
Trump Jr. testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee behind closed doors in Sept. 2017. During the interview, he told committee members that he was not “aware” of foreign governments other than Russia offering to provide assistance to the Trump campaign.

Coons’ office did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s inquiries about his requested timetable for Trump’s return.
