The House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6 is expecting to send its final report to the printer by the end of the month and publish it before the end of the year, Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said, according to multiple reports.
Thompson said the report is a “work in progress,” according to CNN, but is expecting the report to be published in early December, possibly before the Georgia Senate runoff election on Dec. 6.
JAN. 6 COMMITTEE INTERVIEWS SOURCE AT HEART OF TRUMP MOTORCADE LUNGING STORY: REPORT
The report will come after a yearlong investigation into the events on Jan. 6, 2021, when thousands of supporters of former President Donald Trump illegally stormed into the Capitol building. The panel was investigating the role that the former president played in the riot and included hours of public testimonies. The committee is expected to dissolve following the Republican takeover of Congress in January.
The panel subpoenaed Trump for testimony and documents, but he has defied the demand and filed a court challenge. Former Vice President Mike Pence has also refused to testify in front of the panel, claiming that it set a “dangerous precedent” to have a panel question a former vice president about something that happened at the White House.

A subcommittee, which includes the panel Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) and is led by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MA), is investigating loose ends from the investigation, including whether to make criminal and civil referrals to the Justice Department, Thompson said. The subcommittee was formed approximately a month ago, but it is not clear when it would make its referrals.
