Sexy Robin Givens may have been without a must-have man on Valentine’s Day, but that didn’t stop her from romping around Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. So what did the stunning former flame of Brad Pitt do on the day made for lovers? She treated herself to a bikini wax in a salon at The Gallery mall, of course.
“I was alone without a date and depressed,” the actress said, laughing. “It was very ?Sex and the City.? ”
In town as part of the “Men, Money and Golddiggers” cast performing at the Lyric Opera House this week, Givens is also promoting MyNetworkTV?s upcoming serialized drama “Saints and Sinners,” which debuts March 14. A modern-day Romeo and Juliet about two rival hotel owners set in flashy Miami Beach, Givens, 42, stars as a seductress who attempts to steal Romeo from his Juliet.
Known for her one-year marriage to former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson ? who she said she is no longer in contact with ? the romantically empowered character is one Givens said she admires.
“I love the character,” Givens said. “She?s got so much guts and courage and confidence. I go home sometimes and wish I was her.”
A New York native, Givens appeared on “The Cosby Show” and “Diff?rent Strokes” in the 1980s, then landed a starring role in the sitcom “Head of the Class.” She remarried and divorced her tennis instructor, Svetozar Marinkovic, and had a son in 1999 with professional tennis player Murphy Jensen.
The two are no longer together, and Givens said she has no new romantic interest, at least none that she wanted to talk about.
Givens did, however, talk about her affection for Baltimore ? where she spent three months filming “Head of State” with Chris Rock in 2003. Casually dressed with a yellow bandana wrapped around her head and gold hoop earrings, Givens said she finds the recent snow relaxing.
“It gives you an excuse to do nothing,” she said. “We?re always in a hurry in America. It?s nice to just chill.”
Givens? book about her grandmother, mother and self, titled “Grace Will Lead Me Home,” will be on shelves in April.
