A Bel Air man, suspected of killing a Pennsylvania man and attempting to kill a Darlington man, who?s now in critical condition, committed suicide Sunday morning following the incidents. Harford County sheriff?s deputies continue to search for the suspects motive in a puzzling case. “We don?t know what the connection was between the suspect and the victims,” said Bob Thomas, a spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff?s Office.

Jeffrey Grant Bennett, 48, of the 3000 block of Lochary Road in Bel Air, killed himself using a handgun Sunday morning after he showed up at a friend?s house in the 1600 block of Poole Road in Darlington and confessed to killing a man in Airville, Pa., and shooting a Darlington man, police said.

Bennett told his friend thathe shot Larry R. Bank, 50, of the 3700 block of Love Road in Darlington several times after an argument.

“The shooting occurred outside [Bank?s] home. Bank, after being shot several times, was able to make his way into his home and call us,” Thomas said. Bank told police Bennett shot him and fled the scene. Bank was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where, as of Monday afternoon, he was listed in critical condition.

Harford County deputies were called to the Poole Road residence shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, at which time they learned that Bennett had also shot and killed Jeffrey Louis Storm, 53, of 49 Beechwood Road in Airville, Pa., Thomas said. He said he couldn?t elaborate on how they learned about the other shooting. Pennsylvania State Police responded to the address and confirmed that Storm had been shot and killed.

“We?re still trying to puzzle it out. We know [Bank] and the [Bennett] had a long-standing dispute or feud,” Thomas said. “We?re still trying to figure out the relationships and the motive. We still don?t know the total connection between Mr. Bennett and Mr. Storm.”

Pennsylvania State Police were not able to elaborate further on the investigation, referring to the Harford County Sheriff?s Office as the lead agency in the case.
