Trump confidant reveals four leading candidates to replace Sarah Sanders

A Trump confidant has unveiled the four most likely candidates to replace White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.

Hogan Gidley, Stephanie Grisham, Heather Nauert, and Tony Sayegh are the four leading picks a Trump confidant told Reuters on Friday.

Gidley, who is the current deputy White House press secretary, was described as the “likely pick” to replace Sanders, according to a Trump source.

President Trump was asked about whether Grisham, who is the communication for first lady Melania Trump, would replace Sanders.

“Stephanie is terrific. We have a lot of great people, we have a lot of good people to choose from,” Trump said.

Nauert, who is the former State Department spokeswoman, was forced to withdraw her nomination as U.N. ambassador after sources said she employed a foreign-born nanny who was not legally allowed to work. Sayegh is the outgoing Treasury Department spokesman.

Trump announced Thursday on Twitter that Sanders would be leaving her post to go back to Arkansas.

Sanders addressed her departure in an emotional goodbye where she said she would be leaving the White House to be with family.

“I couldn’t be prouder to have had the opportunity to serve my country and particularly to work for this president. He has accomplished so much in these two and a half years, and it’s truly been something that I will treasure forever. It’s one of the greatest jobs I could ever have,” she said.

Sanders has reportedly discussed the possibility of running for governor of Arkansas in 2022, a move Trump approved of on Twitter and during the press conference.
