Steve Bannon discussing with friends possibility of new right-wing network: Report

Steve Bannon, who parted ways with the Trump administration on Friday, is reportedly discussing the prospect of starting up a network to the right of Fox News.

A report from Axios on Saturday said Bannon, who rejoined Breitbart News as executive chairman hours after his White House departure, has told friends about the idea.

Axios previously reported that the late Roger Ailes had reached out to Bannon before his death in May about starting a channel together, but Bannon at the time did not want to leave the White House. The report Saturday said that Bannon was a huge fan of the idea, as he isn’t a fan of the globalist direction he sees Fox News taking lately.

Long Island hedge fund billionaire Bob Mercer is on board for Bannon’s next project, the report said. That could also turn out to be an overseas expansion of the Brietbart media operation.

There is speculation among Bannon’s friends on whether the network, if it came to fruition, will be a TV channel or available via online streaming.
