Neil Young is calling for his music to be pulled from Spotify due to what he considers to be the platform’s spread of COVID-19 misinformation through Joe Rogan’s podcast.
“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” he wrote in a now-deleted letter to the platform.
“Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule,” he said.
The Grammy Award-winning artist said the worst culprit of the spread of misinformation is the Joe Rogan Experience, according to a report.

“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. … They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both,” Young wrote.
“With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, JRE, which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence,” the letter read. “Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy.”
Young is not the sole critic of Rogan’s presence on Spotify.
At least 270 medical professionals have petitioned the platform to crack down on the UFC commentator’s podcast and actually enforce a policy for misinformation.
This is also not the first spat that Young has had with Spotify.
