TheBlaze anchor Tomi Lahren is pushing back on critics who mocked her and reportedly sent her death threats this week after she blasted the Super Bowl halftime show for featuring Black Panther-inspired imagery.
“There are much better leaders out there to advance your message than the Black Panthers,” Lahren said Thursday in an interview with TMZ Live. “[Beyonce] wasn’t saluting someone like Martin Luther King. She was saluting a group that is known for violence and intimidation.”
“I would never salute the KKK because I don’t believe in their methods, I don’t believe in their tactics,” Lahren added.
Earlier this week, Lahren made headlines after she issued a lengthy criticism of Beyonce for paying tribute to the Black Panthers.
“Just like President Obama, Jada Pinkett Smith, Al Sharpton and so many others that just can’t let America heal, [people like Beyonce] keep ripping off the historical bandaid. Why be a cultural leader when you can play the victim, right?” she said Tuesday evening.
The Internet was not impressed, and many social media users responded by lashing out at Lahren with mockery and some reportedly threatened her with violence.
Nevertheless, TheBlaze anchor does not appear to be backing away from her initial remarks, and she reiterated her criticism of the halftime show again on Thursday.
“I expressed myself,” she told TMZ. “I’m using my First Amendment right to do so. And those that want to attack my using their First Amendment rights? Go for it. But I would just suggest that they do it in a way that wasn’t violent or in the use of profanity, but I guess that might be too much to ask for some of these fans.”
