BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Health Department is asking for volunteers from three towns near where a mosquito-borne disease killed two people last year to be tested at clinics for the presence of the virus that causes the disease.
The study of volunteers from Brandon and Sudbury in Rutland County and Whiting in Addison County is to determine how many people are infected with the virus that causes eastern equine encephalitis but have not gotten seriously ill. The blood tests would detect antibodies to the virus.
