Stephen Miller says 2020 offers ‘stark’ choice: ‘Public safety’ under Trump or ‘lawless mayhem’ of ‘radical left’

One of President Trump’s top advisers predicted a dark outcome for the country if presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden wins the 2020 general election.

Speaking to Fox Business host Lou Dobbs on Wednesday afternoon, senior White House adviser Stephen Miller said the choice for voters in November is between safety or violence.

“What you’re seeing here, Lou, is a contrast,” he said. “You have this president taking out criminal gangs and terrorists at record speed and with record force and focus. And then you have the radical left, the liberal mayors, the crazy socialists unleashing violence and mayhem upon our cities. That’s the choice that every American faces: public safety under this president or lawless mayhem under the radical left.”

Top Democratic politicians such as New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar have called for police departments to be defunded and for the money to be spent on different aspects of community development.

Miller, however, rejected the notion that defunding the police would make people feel safer, arguing that citizens across the country want a strong law enforcement presence to protect their communities from mobs and gangs who would prosper if money were pulled from police budgets.

“Moms and dads and citizens of all walks of life — whether you’re talking about Manhattan, Chicago, or any other part of this country, Atlanta — they support the police, they support law enforcement, and they want federal law enforcement to enforce the law to the fullest extent possible,” he said. “They want gang members behind bars, they want the killers murdering these children to be behind bars … and there will be overwhelming public support for a robust federal law enforcement presence to keep cities safe, to keep families safe, to keep communities safe.”
