County ?unleashes? dog park

Baltimore County is set to officially open its first public off-leash dog park Saturday, designed to give “well-behaved dogs” a place to run and play.

The Baltimore Animal Recreation Center Park in Reisterstown consists of two fenced areas ? one 1.5-acre area for “large and active” dogs and a .75-acre area for “small or elderly” dogs.

The park, which is managed by the Reisterstown Recreation Council, includes dog water fountains and benches. The annual family membership fee is $25.

To be allowed into the park, dogs must be immunized and licensed, according to the Baltimore County government.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the BARC Park at Hannah More, located at 12035 Reisterstown Road in Reisterstown.
