‘Hospitalized’ Republican Sen. Thad Cochran fact checks Trump on Twitter

President Trump claimed again in an interview that aired Thursday that Republican Sen. Thad Cochran was holding up a vote on Republicans’ effort to overhaul Obamacare.

“We have the votes,” Trump told “Fox and Friends” about the Graham-Cassidy healthcare bill. “We have one senator who’s a yes vote. Great person and he’s in the hospital.”

Cochran, R-Miss., chimed in Wednesday that he is “recuperating at home,” after Trump claimed that the hospitalized Republican senator was holding up the healthcare vote.

“Thanks for the well-wishes. I’m not hospitalized, but am recuperating at home in Mississippi and look forward to returning to work soon,” Cochran wrote Wednesday.

Trump also made the claim in a tweet Wednesday morning and several other times throughout the day, saying Republicans wouldn’t be able to pass the overhaul by a critical Sept. 30 deadline because the unnamed senator was in the hospital.

Reports later said Trump was referencing Cochran, who is recovering from a urological issue.
