President Biden will sign his $1.9 trillion spending bill on Friday after it passed its final vote in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, as expected.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki made the announcement before its final test in Congress.
“We are about to pass the most progressive bill in American history,” she said during the White House daily briefing.
It means Biden is likely to sign the bill on his 51st day in office.
PUBLIC RETURN TO NORMAL LIFE OUTPACING FEDERAL GUIDANCE
The legislation is one of the largest stimulus measures in history and includes $1400 direct payments to millions, an expansion of child tax credits, and $350 billion in aid to state and local governments.
Democrats say the legislation is vital to tackling a pandemic that has killed more than half a million people in the United States and thrown the economy into disarray.
But Republicans have balked at the cost and accused Biden of smuggling through a liberal wish-list disguised as a rescue plan. They have also raised concerns that the massive spending package could trigger an increase in inflation.
