John Kasich is calling himself the “only hope” to stop Hillary Clinton in a new Star Wars Day-themed ad.
The 90-second advertisement paints a picture of the year 2017, as yellow text mimics the opening crawl of the “Star Wars” movies.
In this not-so-distant future, Clinton has just defeated Donald Trump “in the largest landslide since Reagan in 1984.”
Also in this future, Nancy Pelosi is the speaker of the House planning new tax hikes and Chuck Schumer leads a Democratic Senate majority.
“New executive orders restricting the 2nd amendment are being drafted, while increased federal spending on Obamacare is readied,” text reads. “But we have hope it can be different …”
The ad then cuts to clips of a news anchors noting Kasich’s high favorability and good odds against Clinton in a general election.
“Only one candidate can defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall,” a caption reads, before cutting to Kasich’s logo.
May 4 is also known as Star Wars Day, with a nod to the phrase, “May the force be with you.”
The Ohio governor is the only candidate left in the 2016 field after Ted Cruz suspended his campaign Tuesday night following Trump’s massive Indiana primary win. Kasich has, however, been mathematically eliminated from clinching the nomination.
