President Trump confirmed Friday morning he is under investigation over his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.
“I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt,” he said on his Twitter account.

News surfaced this week that Trump is being investigated for possible obstruction of justice after firing Comey last month.
It was Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who outlined in a memo to Trump why he believed Comey should be fired, which Trump cited in his decision.
Rosenstein is serving as the acting attorney general for inquiries related to the investigation after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the matter.
Former FBI Director Robert Mueller, whom Trump reportedly interviewed to serve as the bureau’s director again, is the special counsel investigating the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia and overall Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
Mueller widened the investigation to include Trump after Comey was fired.
According to the Washington Post, questions surrounding whether Trump obstructed justice emerged after it was reported the president allegedly asked Comey to end the investigation into his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.
Comey memorialized his conversation with Trump in a memo, and testified about the content of those memos before the Senate Select Committee of Intelligence last week.
The president initially said he decided to fire Comey based on the recommendations from Rosenstein and Sessions.
But in an interview with NBC News days after Comey’s firing, Trump said the Russia investigation shaped his decision.
“In fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story,'” Trump said. “It’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won.”
