Trump administration in ‘late phases’ of finalizing Israeli-Palestinian peace plan

The U.S. is in the “late phases” of finalizing an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan that will be presented to both parties for consideration, according to a report.

The Trump administration has been working on the plan for the past year, according to a senior White House official who told the Washington Free Beacon Sunday that the plan will be presented “when the time is right.”

“We’ve been working hard and want to give the plan the best chance for success,” the official said. “We want to get a lasting deal that is livable for both parties.”

Even though Palestinians are protesting as Israelis celebrate the U.S. Embassy’s move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the source said that the administration does not view this as a hindrance to peace talks.

The official would not share any details of the peace plan, and indicated that the specifics are being kept under wraps because of the high controversy surrounding the issue. He also added that the administration is attempting to be sensitive to both sides.

“We’re not going to preview elements of the plan because no one is going to like everything in it — so anything you reveal is going to make someone angry because it will not be in context,” the administration official said.

A U.S. delegation arrived in Jerusalem Sunday to celebrate the dedication of the embassy Monday.

Palestinians are protesting the dedication ceremony at the Gaza border, and so far on Monday as many as 37 have been killed by Israeli soldiers as a result of those protests.
