CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer is receiving criticism after he reported on the COP26 Glasgow summit from Edinburgh.
Blitzer’s report on the Conference of Parties came from the other side of Scotland, as seen in a picture the anchor posted to Twitter of himself in front of Edinburgh Castle on Monday.
“I’m now reporting from Edinburgh in Scotland where 20,000 world leaders and delegates have gathered for the COP26 Climate Summit,” the post read. “COP, by the way, stands for ‘Conference of the Parties.’ It’s the 26th time they have gathered to discuss and take action on this critical issue.”

Edinburgh sits about 47 miles east of Glasgow.
Scots and other Twitter users ripped the mistake and mocked Blitzer.

“Er…reporting from Edinburgh on COP26 in Glasgow is the rough equivalent of reporting on the UN general assembly from DC,” said one reporter.

“Some business in Edinburgh is currently rubbing their hands together in glee after managing to rent their rooftop out for an event happening 50 miles away,” a U.K. reporter said.

A spokesperson for CNN told the Washington Examiner why Blitzer was in a different location than where the summit took place.
“Edinburgh is where the White House travel pool is located and where Air Force One touched down earlier today and where the president is staying,” the statement read. “In fact, several reputable outlets have covered the fact the president will be going back and forth from Edinburgh to Glasgow.”

Delegates at the summit are charged with accelerating the global action to address climate change and committing to cut emissions to mitigate an increase in global temperatures.
