SNL’s Kenan Thompson wants Obama to do ‘Black Jeopardy’

Saturday Night Live” cast member Kenan Thompson thinks former President Barack Obama would be a fun guest to appear on his “Black Jeopardy” sketch.

“I think Obama would be a lot of fun on Black Jeopardy,” Thompson told Vulture in an interview published Monday. “I feel like he could do it. If we reached out and had a good enough idea for him, he’ll come do it.”

NBC’s “SNL” first aired the sketch in 2014 with Thompson playing the host of each iteration of the fictional show.

A popular installment of “Black Jeopardy” came in 2016 with guest host Tom Hanks playing a Trump supporter with more in common than any contestant had expected. Video of that sketch quickly went viral.

“Tom Hanks is incredible at taking any character and making him human. And at the time, there was a very large division in the country. So him playing a character that was so far on the other side of the aisle, it was super bold,” Thompson said.

While Obama has been impersonated over 50 times on the show, he appeared in only one cameo in November 2007. Still a senator from Illinois at the time, Obama briefly played himself at a Christmas party hosted by actors playing Bill and Hillary Clinton.
