E-commerce giant Amazon restored operations to its online stores after thousands of users reported issues while trying to access the website.
More than 38,000 users were reporting outages at the interruption’s peak late Sunday night, according to Downdetector, which monitors outages for internet services by reviewing social media posts and reports inputted in its own outage reporting system. Thousands of users began reporting outages at around 10:30 p.m.
“Some customers may have temporarily experienced issues while shopping. We have resolved the issue, and everything is now running smoothly,” an Amazon spokesperson told the Washington Examiner on Monday, declining to comment further on the cause of the outage.

Some Twitter users reported a failure of the website to load properly, preventing them from shopping altogether.

Amazon was among a host of major online websites and services, including Spotify, CNN, and Twitch, that suffered disruptions back in June when cloud service company Fastly temporarily went offline. That outage was caused by issues with a service configuration, the company said.
