Secret Service arrest White House intruder who got caught on fencing

The Secret Service arrested an individual who got caught in the fencing surrounding the White House while trying to jump onto the grounds Tuesday night.

In a statement Wednesday, the Secret Service said the person tried to climb and jump over the fencing in the southwest corner of the White House fence near E Street at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The person was stuck in the security features at the top of the fence and was suspended in the air while stuck to the inside of the fence. Agents responded to the area and took the person down, placing the person under arrest.

The person was charged with unlawful entry and placed in jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

No further details were available Wednesday.

The incident comes days after a miserable week for the Secret Service, which included a fence jumper that managed to walk around the White House grounds for more than 15 minutes. That individual made it all the way to the East Wing’s back door before being arrested.
