A large group of Broadway stars will perform a tribute to the victims of the June nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla., at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night.
The theater folk will sing “What the World Needs Now is Love,” a song that has been recorded and repurposed by more than 100 artists since it was written in 1965.
A group of Broadway actors released a new version of the song in late June in remembrance of the 49 people killed during the shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
Appearing on stage in Philadelphia will be Tony winners Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Idina Menzel, Ben Vereen and Debra Messing, as well as other entertainers such as Kristen Bell, Darren Criss and Rosie Perez.
The full list of performers is available at Broadway news site Playbill.
