Tom Cruise is pursuing out-of-this-world cinematic success that would eclipse what he experienced with Top Gun: Maverick as he seeks to film his next movie in outer space.
Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Chairwoman Donna Langley told the BBC that it is the studio’s mission to make Cruise “the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”

“Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. Yeah, that’s the plan,” Langley said.
The film’s plot, according to Langley, primarily “takes place on Earth, and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day.”
Langley said Cruise and director Doug Liman pitched the idea of filming a movie aboard the International Space Station in 2020. Instead of relying on CGI technology, Cruise would take to space himself.
The actor is known for performing his own risky stunts. In July, Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie wished Cruise a happy 60th birthday by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of the actor performing an aerial stunt.
This is 60.
TC, there is just no one like you.
Keep hangin’ in there. Happy Birthday!
