Republican lawmakers said Thursday that they are pleased with the resignation of outgoing EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.
Following President Trump’s announcement of the resignation, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a series of tweets that he supports the president’s decision to accept Pruitt’s resignation. He also said that while he backed the actions Pruitt’s EPA was pushing, it was “time for a change” at the agency.

I believe the President was right to accept @EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s resignation.
Like President @realDonaldTrump I appreciate all of Scott’s efforts to roll back the Obama Administration’s burdensome regulations….

….but it has become increasingly clear it was time for a change at EPA.
I have a lot of confidence in the Deputy Director and know the President will have many good choices when it comes to a replacement.

“I have a lot of confidence in the Deputy Director and know the President will have many good choices when it comes to a replacement,” Graham added in reference to Andrew Wheeler, the soon-to-be EPA acting administrator. “I look forward to working to confirm a new EPA Director who will ensure we have a healthy economy and healthy environment.”
Some Republicans were more pointed in their criticisms of Pruitt, who will officially resign his post on Friday. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., retweeted the president’s announcement and argued that Pruitt, in fact, was a “disaster and an embarrassment.”
Finally. Actually he did a horrible job. He was a disaster and an embarrassment from day one, and the country is far better off without him. https://t.co/gRf6gM9Rse
