Sister of DC mayor dies of COVID complications

The sister of Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser has died of complications from COVID-19.

Mercia Bowser, 64, died on Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement from her sister.

“Mercia was loved immensely and will be missed greatly, as she joins the legion of angels who have gone home too soon due to the pandemic,” Bowser said. She expressed her gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Washington Hospital Center who treated her for COVID-19-related pneumonia.
