Trump picks Heather Nauert for Fulbright scholarship board

President Trump has chosen former State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to oversee the Fulbright Program.

Nauert, 49, a former Fox News host, joined the Trump administration in April 2017 and was picked to replace Nikki Haley as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations after Haley announced she was stepping down last year.

But her nomination was never sent to the Senate, and she withdrew her name from consideration for the post in February. It was reported that she had employed an immigrant nanny who was in the U.S. legally but was not authorized to work.

Nauert will serve on the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board until Sept. 22, 2021. The board has 12 members and was established by Congress to select grant recipients who live abroad for a year to teach or conduct research.

Trump is expected to nominate Morgan Ortagus, a Fox News contributor until this week, to replace Nauert at the State Department.
