Poll: Trump ahead by 7 points in Iowa

Donald Trump jumped to a 7 percent lead over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in Iowa, according to a Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released late Saturday.

With only a few days to go until Election Day, Trump is ahead 46 percent to 39 percent among Iowans.

The GOP nominee leads among men and voters under 35, and enjoys a 7-point advantage among independents.

Meanwhile, Clinton leads by 22 percent among early voters — a trend also exhibited in a new national tracking poll. But, the former secretary of state’s usually strong support among women is down to a slim 3-point lead in Iowa.

The national poll of 800 Iowans likely to vote or who said they already voted was conducted via telephone between Nov. 1 and Nov. 4. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Six electoral votes are at stake in the battleground state.
