Laura Ingraham apologizes for mocking David Hogg’s college rejections after advertisers start to flee

Fox News host Laura Ingraham apologized Thursday to Parkland survivor and gun control advocate David Hogg for going after the 17-year-old activist on being rejected from four college campuses.

“Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA – incl. @DavidHogg111. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland,” Ingraham tweeted.

Ingram continued, inviting Hogg back on her show for a discussion on gun control.

“As always, he’s welcome to return to the show anytime for a productive discussion…”

Ingraham first went after Hogg Wednesday, mocking the high school senior for being rejected from four University of California college campuses despite a 4.1 GPA.

“David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)” Ingraham tweeted.

Hogg responded, calling on his more than 600,000 twitter followers to boycott advertisers on Ingraham’s show and then listing some of the show’s top sponsors.

Thursday, Rachel Ray’s pet food brand responded to Hogg’s tweet, announcing it was in the process of pulling its ads. Website TripAdvisor also announced it would be pulling advertisesments from the show.
