Rolling With JSF

Flight magazine reports on the Joint Strike Fighter’s “first manoeuvring flight tests, complete with full-stick rolls.” The test went off without a hitch: “It worked exceedingly well,” said F-35 chief test pilot Jon Beesley. Below is the video, also posted at flightglobal. (FYI, the video may not work on browsers other than Internet Explorer–in fact, it may not work on Explorer either.) It looks like things are going well with JSF, but according to The DEW Line “the US military may not be able to enter full-rate production for JSF until two or three years after 2012, unless the program decides to lower the threshold for what the term ‘full rate production’ means.” So looks may be deceiving.
