Kristol: Setting Aside Personal Biases to Stop Trump

Bill Kristol reacted Thursday to the personal criticism of Ted Cruz among his congressional colleagues.

“There’s an awful lot of people in a petty way taking out their unhappiness, their dislikes, and I guess they’re entitled to. For me, and this is just my own view, Donald Trump should not be president. So if you think that in a strong way, you’re willing to put a lot of other things aside and try to do your best to stop Donald Trump from being president.”

He also discussed a possible independent alternative to Donald Trump should he capture the GOP nomination for president, saying that it’s Trump, not an outside challenger, who would “elect Hillary Clinton president”.

“A good independent candidate could take Democratic and Republican votes. People are a little sick of the establishments of both parties, and someone new, someone with a real impressive character, someone who is a person of stature, I don’t agree that person could only take Republican votes.”
