Kelly Clarkson joins singing competition show — not named ‘Idol’

Kelly Clarkson was the first winner of “American Idol.” Now, she will take part in a different singing competition show, which debuts this summer.

ABC’s “Duets” has signed Clarkson, as well as Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland , Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke to help try and find a new singing star. They will team up with two contestants and perform duets weekly before a live studio audience. The winner will recieve a recording contract.
