Take Five for Dec. 2

Four Bitchin’ Babes at the Birchmere, Friday & Saturday They’re bitchin’, and they’re babes. Any more to be said?

“We’re four women with very different personalities and style,” said Debi Smith, the only local of the foursome. She’s from Falls Church.

Founded in 1990, the quartet has changed its lineup over the last 21 years, with each member living in different East Coast cities. Smith has been a member since 1993.

Four Bitchin’ Babes is a comedy and music show tackling not just women’s issues, but universal takes on life and aging.

“We look at women’s lives through a wacky viewfinder,” Smith said, adding that men enjoy the show as well. “Anybody can laugh about it.”

The group performs at the Birchmere approximately once a year, and members have a ton of new material locked in this time around. Smith said she gets material simply from everyday commonalities.

“You have to pay attention to the things you’re doing that everybody does,” she said. “You find things that everybody can relate to.”
